The natural beauty of Los Gatos is one of the town's most striking features. The town is nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, with a variety of hiking and biking trails. There are many beautiful parks, Vasona Park being particularly special with its seasonal boating and paddle boarding on the lake, numerous picnic areas, sprawling lawns and a railroad and merry-go-round in the adjacent Oak Meadow Park.
Oak and Redwood trees frame the downtown and many parks and neighborhoods, giving a well-established feel to a well-established town.
The downtown area of Los Gatos is a major draw for residents and visitors. This charming area is home to a variety of local shops, restaurants, cafes and even a theater, which recently re-opened! Nearly every cuisine you can think of is available somewhere downtown.
In the summers there are entertaining events like Jazz in the Plazz and Music In The Park where you can bring a blanket, food and drinks and enjoy music outdoors. In September, there will be an Arts and Wine Festival.
In December, the Holiday Parade is always very well attended, rain or shine. This last December it was pouring rain, and the streets were still packed! Every Sunday there is a farmers’ market alongside Main St Park.
One of the things that sets Los Gatos apart from other cities in the area is its small-town feel. Even though the city itself is pretty spread out, bordering San Jose, Campbell and Saratoga, the excellent schools, outdoor activities, seasonal events and more brings people together, and the community as a result.
In terms of education, Los Gatos is home to some of the best schools in the state. They are known for their high-quality education and parent participation. There are also excellent private schools.
